At OPEN Health, we're looking for an experienced Senior Microsoft 365 Platform Engineer to take ownership of our Microsoft cloud ecosystem and play a key role in our ongoing digital transformation.

This is a high-impact opportunity for a technical expert who thrives on combining strategy with hands-on engineering. You'll be the technical owner of our Microsoft 365 and Azure platforms, driving security, governance, automation, compliance, cost optimisation, and platform innovation across a global organisation.

Working closely with IT leadership and strategic service partners, you'll help shape our cloud roadmap, strengthen our security posture, improve operational excellence, and ensure our Microsoft estate remains secure, scalable, resilient, and future-ready.

What You'll Be Doing

Microsoft 365 Platform

  • Own and manage Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, Intune and Entra ID.
  • Lead Microsoft 365 licensing, governance, architecture and lifecycle management.
  • Drive platform modernisation and collaboration technology improvements.

Security & Identity

  • Administer Microsoft Defender XDR and related security services.
  • Manage Conditional Access, MFA, Identity Governance and Privileged Identity Management.
  • Support Zero Trust initiatives and Microsoft Sentinel implementation.

Microsoft Purview

  • Design and implement Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies.
  • Manage Information Protection, Sensitivity Labels, Retention and Compliance solutions.
  • Support eDiscovery, Insider Risk and broader data governance initiatives.

Azure Platform & FinOps

  • Manage Azure subscriptions, governance, networking and resource organisation.
  • Monitor platform performance and operational health.
  • Lead Azure cost management and FinOps initiatives.
  • Optimise Reserved Instances, Savings Plans and cloud resource utilisation.
  • Develop budgets, forecasts and executive-level reporting.
  • Partner with service providers to maximise value from cloud investments.

Leadership & Operational Excellence

  • Act as the senior technical escalation point above our Managed Service Provider (MSP).
  • Lead complex technical projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with MSP and MSSP partners on incident response and threat management.
  • Support vulnerability management, patching, audits, compliance reviews and risk assessments.
  • Develop technical standards, documentation and knowledge-sharing practices across the IT organisation.

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • 7+ years' experience supporting enterprise Microsoft environments.
  • Advanced Microsoft 365 administration expertise.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Purview, Defender XDR, Intune and Entra ID.
  • Strong Azure administration and Azure FinOps experience.
  • PowerShell scripting and automation skills.
  • Experience working within global organisations and alongside Managed Service Providers.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving abilities.

Desirable

  • Microsoft certifications such as MS-102, AZ-104, AZ-305, SC-300, SC-400, AZ-500 and/or SC-100.
  • Experience within healthcare, life sciences or other regulated industries.
  • Knowledge of ITIL and enterprise change management practices.
