Project Manager – Promo Med Ed
Reports to: Project Director or Account Director
Job Summary
A successful project manager is directly responsible for developing and driving the team’s project plans for a portfolio of medical education projects and works directly with the project coordinators and project/account directors. They take an active role from project inception to completion providing accurate and proactive support for all project-related activities and deliverables, establishing, and maintaining effective working relationships with peers, staff, suppliers, clients, and healthcare professionals (HCPs), and other relevant groups associated with the overall project delivery. Assist in leading the development, execution, and delivery of all projects for accounts they support.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversees 7-10 concurrent projects, depending on the scope
- Assumes responsibility for overall scope of each project, develops project plans, timelines, budgets in conjunction with coordinator, and drives projects to timely, quality delivery
- Anticipates client needs and proactively addresses those needs with the project or account director to ensure complete client satisfaction
- Works with account management, project team, scientific team, vendors, and editorial teams to coordinate resources to ensure appropriate support and communication, including but not limited to:
- Assists in the creation of long- and short-term plans, including setting targets for milestones and adhering to deadlines
- Ensures project tasks are being completed on time and successfully by the team members as assigned and delegates to those best positioned to complete them
- Serves as a point of contact for teams when shared services are in play to ensure team actions remain in synergy
- Develops and maintains status reports for internal and client use
- Ensures quality control of the project throughout development to execution, maintaining the standards expected
- Adjusts schedules and targets on the project as needs or financing for the project change
- Fosters integration, collaboration, and teamwork among team members
- Deploys Open Health resources to best balance overall business objectives of the organization
- Consistently makes connections across projects/deliverables and makes recommendations for project efficiencies and improvement
- Ensures delivery of each project relative to budget, and the overall profitability of the account. Is able to independently reconcile projects in a timely manner. Helps to facilitate the reporting of financial records to clients as needed. Oversees and quality checks all financial tracking completed by the coordinator
- May be asked to support account/project team in the development of budgets to implement creative educational programs
- Works with project/account director to help select and hire appropriate staff, train and develop coordinators on a routine basis
- Completes all relevant other duties as assigned or requested for the general support of the organization. This could include account/project management and scientifically based tasks related to the business that the account director/manager oversees. These tasks could include literature searches, agenda development for meetings, and review of meeting recaps, etc.
Experience, Skills, and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 3-4 years of professional education project types, including comprehensive knowledge of professional education project types
- Proficient software and computer skills (Microsoft Suite)
- Adept problem solving and decision-making skills
- Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills capable of maintaining strong relationships
- Exceptional time management skills
- Detail-oriented, articulate, creative, optimistic and works easily with a variety of personalities and styles
- Understand FDA, AMA, PhRMA Guidelines and State Regulations as they apply to medical communication projects
