Job Summary

The Patient Engagement practice at OPEN Health offers thought leadership in the development and execution of patient engagement strategy for biotech and pharmaceutical companies developing therapies for diseases. Our clients seek to go beyond patient education to achieve broad patient activation and engagement.

The Patient Relationship Manager serves as a dedicated partner to Patient Ambassadors, guiding and supporting them throughout their journey with empathy, honesty, and responsibility. This role focuses on building authentic relationships while ensuring compliant, seamless, and positive experiences that elevate program success and strengthen trust.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Recruit, screen, and assess patient Ambassadors to ensure program fit and readiness
  • Lead onboarding, deployment, and training of Ambassadors, ensuring confidence and comfort in their role
  • Manage contracting, payment processes, booking travel and compliance oversight with accuracy and care
  • Provide consistent coaching, engagement, and support to Ambassadors throughout their journey
  • Act as the primary point of contact, ensuring patient communications align with brand guidelines
  • Support cross-functional coordination to ensure smooth program execution
  • Anticipate patient needs and proactively address challenges, removing burdens where possible

Experience, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree, preferably in marketing, patient advocacy, social work, or healthcare
  • Previous patient engagement experience with a biopharmaceutical company or patient engagement agency preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an empathic and compassionate communication style
  • Ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with patients and Ambassadors
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and adhere to tight timelines
  • Comfortable collaborating with remote teams and stakeholders
  • Basic understanding of legal, regulatory, and compliance guidelines related to patient engagement and pharmaceutical industry standards
  • Superior communication skills (both written and verbal) and a proven ability to communicate effectively
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
