Role Overview
The Finance Business Partner plays a critical role in translating financial data into strategic insights that support decision‑making across the Evidence & Access Practice Area. Acting as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, this role blends financial expertise with strong business acumen to drive performance, optimise costs, and enable long‑term value creation. This role requires strong financial expertise, commercial acumen, and effective communication, along with a commitment to integrity and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Partnership & Business Support
- Act as the primary financial advisor to designated business units, providing insights that influence strategy, planning, and operational decisions regarding resource, revenue and clients.
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with senior leaders within the Evidence & Access Practice to understand their priorities, challenges, and opportunities.
- Challenge assumptions, highlight risks, and provide recommendations that enhance business performance and outcomes.
Financial Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead the development of annual budgets and rolling forecasts for Evidence & Access.
- Analyse trends, variances, and performance drivers to deliver accurate and insightful forecasts.
- Support scenario planning to help teams evaluate potential strategic decisions
- Ensuring accurate and timely financial management information is prepared with detailed analysis of the business, identification of opportunities and risk mitigation, drive accurate forecasting.
- Working in close partnership with the rest of Finance, the individual business holders and the group consolidation team to provide accurate, timely and comprehensive annual budgets as well as monthly re-forecasts and ad hoc analysis
Performance Management & Analysis
- Provide clear, actionable analysis of financial results, KPIs, and business performance.
- Identify performance gaps, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities through analysis of staff utilisation and revenue.
- Partner with operational teams to implement corrective actions and track progress against goals.
Decision Support & Commercial Analysis
- Conduct financial modelling and business case development for investments, new initiatives, and major projects.
- Evaluate ROI, cost/benefit, and long‑term value impacts.
- Offer commercial insights that strengthen pricing, procurement, contract negotiations, and resource allocation.
Risk Management & Governance
- Support strong financial governance, ensuring alignment with policies, controls, and compliance requirements.
- Identify financial risks and opportunities, escalating when necessary and proposing mitigation strategies.
- Maintain high-quality financial reporting and ensure accuracy of inputs from business stakeholders.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with FP&A, Accounting, HR, and Operations to ensure financial alignment, transparency, and accountability.
- Translate complex financial information into accessible insights for non‑finance teams.
- Contribute to enterprise-wide initiatives including digital transformation, process optimisation, and efficiency programmes.
Candidate Profile – (Skills, Competencies and Experience)
- Extensive financial experience within a global company along with relevant qualifications
- Professional qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent experience.
- Familiarity with BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Understanding of private equity or public company environments is helpful, though not essential
- Experience leading or supporting teams, with a collaborative and inclusive leadership style
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to synthesise complex data.
- Excellent communication skills; able to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven experience in financial analysis, business partnering, commercial or FP&A roles.
- Advanced proficiency with Excel and financial modelling.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience within a multinational or matrixed organisation.
