As part of the Acsel Health division of OPEN Health, our Engagement Managers partner with pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients to solve complex business challenges and bring innovative therapies to market. Acsel Health delivers strategic consulting services across commercialization, market access, medical affairs, clinical development, and evidence generation, helping clients maximize the value of their innovations and improve patient outcomes.
Our Engagement Managers execute on multiple client engagements simultaneously, partnering with cross-functional teams and delivering high-quality strategic recommendations across a wide range of therapeutic areas. This role requires a highly motivated consultant who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys managing diverse projects, and can effectively balance client leadership, hands-on project delivery, business development, and team development responsibilities. Engagement Managers serve as trusted advisors to clients while mentoring junior team members and contributing to the continued growth of the business.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Deliver client engagements independently with input from project lead, ensuring projects are executed to the highest quality standards, on time, and within scope.
- Own the thinking/analytical structure and client alignment, ensuring work is complete, well-framed, and sufficient to support strategic recommendations.
- Develop perspective, with ongoing validation and refinement throughout the engagement.
- Serve as a primary client contact, building strong partnerships and facilitating productive client meetings, workshops, and strategic discussions.
- Drive development of core commercial deliverables, including market assessments, portfolio and product strategies, competitive assessments, and launch plans.
- Define pricing and access strategies through landscape assessments, value proposition development, contracting strategies, and patient access planning.
- Design medical and scientific strategies, including medical affairs, evidence generation, guideline development, and stakeholder engagement approaches.
- Gather, synthesize, and analyze qualitative and quantitative data to identify insights and develop evidence-based recommendations.
- Structure, conduct, and oversee primary and secondary research activities, connecting insights to strategic recommendations.
- Contribute substantive input into analyses, presentations, reports, and other deliverables developed by project team members, while also directly creating client-facing materials.
- Manage project teams, providing direction, oversight, and mentorship to consultants and junior team members.
- Participate in proposal development, project scoping, statement of work (SOW) development, and client pitch meetings.
- Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships and support business growth through additional project work and strategic advisory services.
- Contribute to internal initiatives, capability development, recruiting efforts, thought leadership, and knowledge-sharing activities.
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team culture while supporting the professional development of colleagues.
Experience, Skills, and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience required.
- Advanced degree (MBA, MPH, MS, PharmD, PhD, MD, or equivalent) preferred.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in life sciences consulting, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare strategy, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of commercialization, market access, medical affairs, evidence generation, and product launch strategy across a range of therapeutic areas.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and workstreams simultaneously while maintaining exceptional quality and exceeding client expectations.
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to gather, synthesize, and interpret complex data to develop practical, data-driven solutions.
- Experience structuring, conducting and interpreting primary, secondary, qualitative, and quantitative research.
- Excellent business writing, presentation development, and executive-level communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce polished, visually compelling, client-ready deliverables and presentations.
- Ability to communicate strategic recommendations clearly and credibly to clients, internal stakeholders, and senior leadership.
- Strong project management skills, including timeline development, activity planning, risk management, and stakeholder coordination.
- Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and develop junior team members through constructive feedback and professional guidance.
- Experience contributing to business development efforts, including proposal writing, pitch participation, statement of work (SOW) development, and identification of follow-on opportunities.
- Professional, collaborative, and adaptable approach with the ability to build effective relationships across diverse teams and client organizations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and other business productivity tools.
Travel Requirements
- Up to 10-20% travel, including potential domestic and international travel based on client and business needs.
