Our RWE teams bring together scientific expertise, advanced analytics, and innovative data solutions to support the full lifecycle of evidence generation. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Director of Real World Data Science to lead and shape our data analytics capability within RWE.

Job Summary

As Director of Real World Data Science, you will lead the development and evolution of the RWE Data Analytics function, combining strategic leadership with hands-on technical expertise.

You will oversee the delivery of complex analytical work across a diverse portfolio of RWE studies, while also defining and embedding best practices in data science, reproducibility, and scalable analytics. Acting as both a technical expert and people leader, you will play a key role in translating complex real world data into meaningful insights for clients and internal stakeholders.

You will work closely with senior leaders across RWE and the wider organisation, contributing to capability development, innovation, and long term growth.

This is a role for someone who enjoys shaping high performing teams, modernising analytical approaches, and delivering impactful, data driven insights that improve healthcare outcomes.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Leading and contributing to complex analyses of observational and longitudinal data, including descriptive, comparative, and inferential methods such as regression modelling
  • Providing senior oversight of statistical design, programming, and analytical delivery across RWE studies
  • Working with diverse real world data sources including claims, electronic health records, registries, and primary data collection
  • Ensuring robust data pipelines, including data ingestion, ETL processes, data quality checks, and reproducibility across projects
  • Driving high quality visualisation and clear communication of analytical outputs for scientific, client, and senior stakeholder audiences

Strategic and Functional Leadership

  • Defining and delivering the vision and long-term strategy for the RWE Data Analytics function
  • Aligning analytical capabilities with broader RWE and organisational objectives
  • Modernising and standardising ways of working, including reproducible research, automation, version control, and quality assurance frameworks
  • Establishing and embedding analytical standards, governance, and best practices across the function
  • Leading, mentoring, and developing a multidisciplinary team of Data Scientists and Analysts

Stakeholder Engagement and Impact

  • Acting as a senior partner to internal and external stakeholders, translating complex analytics into clear, actionable insights
  • Collaborating cross functionally to ensure data science supports broader client and business objectives
  • Presenting findings and recommendations to senior leadership and client audiences with clarity and confidence

You Will Love This Role If You

  • Are passionate about using real world data to generate insights that make a meaningful difference to healthcare and patient outcomes
  • Enjoy combining hands-on analytical work with strategic leadership and team development
  • Thrive in a fast paced, collaborative consultancy environment
  • Are motivated by building and shaping high performing data science teams
  • Enjoy working across a wide range of data sources and therapeutic areas
  • Want to play a key role in advancing data analytics capability within a growing RWE function

Experience, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (MSc, PhD, or equivalent experience) in Health Data Science, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Statistics, or a related quantitative discipline
  • Significant experience in real world evidence, observational research, or healthcare data analytics within a consultancy, CRO, or pharmaceutical setting
  • Expert level proficiency in R, with experience using packages such as the Tidyverse
Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases

  • Strong understanding of statistical methods, including longitudinal data analysis and regression modelling
  • Proven ability to work with large, complex datasets and deliver robust, reproducible analyses
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex methods and results to a range of audiences
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, particularly in coding quality and validation
