Creative Director - Medical Affairs
Reports to Head, Creative Services / Executive Creative Director / Senior Creative Director
Job Summary
Combining impeccable conception and design with strong team and client leadership skills, Creative Directors ensure their teams deliver head-turning creative outputs across media, on time and to budget, and continuously adapt to meet evolving business needs. Ensuring that scientific content is translated into engaging narratives and visual systems that resonate with healthcare professionals, patients, and other stakeholders, Creative Directors own the creative vision and ensure that all outputs are distinctive, high-quality, supported by beautiful storytelling, and compliant with regulatory requirements.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Driving superb conceptual and design skills across media
- Presenting to and influencing senior business and client stakeholders
- Driving development, implementation and adherence to quality standards, best practices, processes and procedures
- Ensuring multidisciplinary team adherence to all external laws, policies and guidelines
- Building and maintaining up to date knowledge of healthcare market creative trends and innovations and sharing/leveraging insights to support business needs and growth
- Upskilling teams to ensure we deliver content in a creative and innovative way without exception, and are able to take and give creative briefs
- Providing creative consultancy services and training internal colleagues and external stakeholders on the latest trends in content packaging, effective presentations and storytelling
- Leadership of assigned creative initiatives
- Creative workflow and resource planning in conjunction with other departments and external partners, in partnership with Creative Services team
- Addressing short- and long-term resource needs through acquisition and mobilization of staff and contractors, in partnership with Creative Services team
- Supporting recruitment initiatives to ensure optimal team structure and complement
Line Management
- Providing and overseeing the provision of effective line management, supporting the career and personal development of assigned line reports and department members
- Ensuring all line reports and department members undergo performance review and have appropriate objectives and development plans in place
- Rapidly addressing under-performance and initiation of active management plans to support individuals, as required
Experience, Skills, and Qualifications
- Educated to degree level or equivalent with a proven creative portfolio
- Excellent technical, design, presentation, and reviewing skills with strong attention to detail, proven through extensive experience in a creative leadership role in medical communications
- Proven experience in delivering, and training teams to deliver, head-turning creative outputs across media including, but not limited to, scientific posters, PPT presentations, data visualization, medical congress booths
- Expertise in translating complex scientific content into compelling creative narratives
- Strong storytelling and presentation skills
- Significant prior experience leading a team of creatives in medical communications, with proven ability to foster a supportive, collaborative, continuous improvement environment
- Excellent working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft PPT
- Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, multi-tasking and working to tight deadlines
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- A strong work ethic, excellent communication and organizational skills, and a drive to exceed customer expectations/push creative boundaries
- A creative approach to problem-solving and an open-minded attitude
- Enthusiasm for learning and sharing knowledge of new skills and software
